Memorandum of Cooperation between the All-Ukrainian Association of Trauma Surgery and Rehabilitation and the Ukrainian Association of Physical Therapy has been signed
An important event has taken place: the President of the All-Ukrainian Association of Trauma Surgery and Rehabilitation, Mykola Ankin, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Chairman of the Board, Mykola Romanyshin. Ukrainian Association of Physical Therapy
Our common goal is to create conditions that will allow physical therapists to provide their services to patients at the early stages of musculoskeletal disorders. This is especially important for those patients who need the help of a physical therapist the next day after surgery. Today, a significant part of such patients are wounded defenders of Ukraine who were injured during hostilities.
Problem: The reality today is that the provision of rehabilitation services begins only from the moment of admission to the rehabilitation department, and unfortunately, the mechanism of the mobile mode of operation of the multidisciplinary rehabilitation team does not fully cover the needs for services for patients in other departments, since the workload of physical therapists is mostly concentrated on patients in the rehabilitation department. World practice shows that physical therapy is carried out immediately after surgical interventions, which allows to avoid complications and achieve better treatment and rehabilitation results.
The memorandum outlines joint work on:
• Identification and formation of mechanisms for eliminating barriers in the provision of timely services by physical therapists for patients with musculoskeletal disorders, especially in the early stages after surgical operations;
• Development and submission of recommendations for improving the financing of rehabilitation services for patients with musculoskeletal disorders;
• To contribute to improving the quality of rehabilitation services for patients with musculoskeletal disorders, particularly in the early stages of treatment.
Cooperation between orthopedic surgeons and physical therapists is the key to successful recovery of patients. We are confident that joint efforts and a common vision of the problem will help improve the quality of treatment and rehabilitation services in Ukraine.
